About the Author
Rednik is a consulting specialist in institutional development, governance and capacity building, human resources, and
learning systems. He has a PhD in occupational analysis, Masters in Education, and two degrees in geography. Rednik
began his career in a bank, but soon became bored with the mind-numbing work, and went off to Papua New Guinea as
an elementary school teacher and student demonstration teacher. After twelve exciting years in Papua New Guinea, he
worked for brief periods in Australia, but went on to become a consultant in developing and transitional countries. Rednik
has worked on assignments in twenty-six countries for the ILO, UNOPS, IFAD, UNDP, OECF, AusAID, WB, ADB, DFID, NZAID,
and a number of governments, in peace, conflict, and post-conflict situations. Rednik has written a novel, a short story
collection, many professional papers, and co-wrote a textbook on retailing in Papua New Guinea. In 1998, he received a
“WB Group Award for Excellence in the Thailand Land Titling Project” for significant development impact through
outstanding client responsiveness, professionalism, partnership, teamwork, innovation, and cost effectiveness. Much of
his work now focuses on land rights and poverty alleviation. Rednik lives with his spouse in tropical north-eastern
Australia, but continues to roam the World, refusing to retire.
